Drawing inspiration from real-world formula cars, the team at Asetek Simsports® designed the Forte® Formula Steering Wheel. Racers and sim racers contributed their insights. This steering wheel replicates the feeling of real-life racing and incorporates sim racing feedback.
With a blank slate and a clear objective, they set out to create the ultimate sim racing formula wheel. They aimed for affordability, like their other products. The result is the Asetek Simsports Forte® Formula steering wheel, a proud achievement.
Many racing wheels, sim or real-life, derive their strength from the front face plate and handles. Often, these wheels have handlebars that mechanically connect at both ends, limiting size and design flexibility.
To maximize rigidity, they used a composite material of carbon, glass, and plastic for the injection-molded chassis. This chassis boasts high natural rigidity and strength, complemented by a laser-etched forged carbon exterior. It opens up the possibility for users to modify handles, add clutches, and DRS paddles without compromising strength and rigidity.
The chassis incorporates a metal spider interface inside, enhancing its anti-flex properties. It also provides a robust interface for the removable handles. As a result, they've created a stiff, non-flexing steering wheel. Users can change or upgrade handles over time, allowing for a personalized steering wheel. Currently, they offer two sizes - the default size fits average-sized hands, while an XL version caters to larger hands.
They made the handles from comfortable, soft, and durable silicone rubber. Easy to clean and disinfect, these handles ensure comfort and control, regardless of whether the user wears racing gloves. Users can easily swap the handles to accommodate future upgrades in color, size, shape, and hardness.
Lastly, a 2mm woven carbon plate forms the front face of the wheel. It hosts all the buttons and switches, adding elegance to its functional design.
